Surya Pooja |
 |
20th Thursday to 24th Monday, March 2003 |
 |
| The Pooja is symbolic of Lord Suryanarayana Himself propitiating
Lord Swaminatha. In several temples, this Pooja is performed on a
day when the sunrays fall on the feet of teh presiding deity through
a special opening in the ceiling. At Uttara Swamimalai there is no
such opeining on the ceiling. Yet through the eastern portal, the
rising Sun's Golden rays illuminate the entire idol of Lord
Swaminatha on all the five days consecutively. |
