About the Temple
Sree Uttara Swami Malai popularly known, as "Malai Mandir"Sree Uttara Swami Mandir / Malai Mandir at New Delhi comprises the temples of Sree Swaminatha Swami, Sree Karpaga Vinayakar, Sree Sundareswarar and Devi Meenakshi.

The temples reflect the glory and grandeur of South Indian Temple Architecture at its best.
The temple of Sree Swaminatha Swami is situated on a hillock overlooking RAMAKRISHNAPURAM and VASANT VIHAR, the temples of Sree Karpaga Vinayakar, Sree Sundareswarar and Devi Meenakshi are at the foot of the hill. Lord Swaminatha's (Lord Karthik's) Click for a bigger view of Lord Swaminatha / Lord Karthikeya temple is built entirely with blue granite stone in the hoary traditions of Chola Temple architecture on top of an undulating rocky hillock. The temples for Lord Vinayaka (Lord Ganesha), Lord Sundareswarar (Lord Shiva) and Devi Meenakshi (Devi  Parvathi) built in the Pandian style, using the time-tested Sudhai architecture and techniques.

The temples for the Navagrahas (9 planetary deities) and the magnificent Aadhi Sankara Hall The magnificient Aadhi Sankara Hall are located midway up the hill. The Aadhi Sankara hall is regularly used for conduct of bhajans, meditation sessions and Prayers etc.


As advised by H.H. Sree Maha Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, a Shilpa Kala Mandapam was constructed at the foot of the steps leading to the Aadhi Sankara Hall.

  
The main temple for the Lord Swaminatha (Lord Karthik) was consecrated and a Mahakumbhabishekam was performed on June 7, 1973, the temple for Sree Karpaga Vinayakar (Lord Ganesha), Sree Sundareswarar  (Lord Shiva) and Devi Meenakshi (Devi  Parvathi) were consecrated and Mahakumbhabishekam was performed on 13th June 1990.  A Jeeranodharana Kumbhabishekam for the Lord Swaminatha Swami temple was also performed on the same day. The Navagraha temple (nine planets)  along with a small temple for Idumban Swami was consecrated and Kumbhabishekam was performed on  7th July 1995.  The Aadhi Sankara Hall was inaugurated on 9th November 1997. The third Punarudhdharana, Ashtabandhana, Swarna-Rajatha Bandhana Maha-Kumbhabhishekam of the temples was performed on 27th June, 2001 by H.H Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipati Sri Jayendra Sareswati Swamigal. H.H. Sri Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal also participated in the yaga pooja on the night of 25th June, 2001.

Ati Rudram and Nava Chandi Homam was performed during October 10th till October 15th, 2003. Recently Chandi Homam was again performed on sunday, 29th March, 2004. The Vishnu Durga Deity were adorned with new Swarna Ornaments (Hastham and Paadam ). were donated by a few devotees at the temple for the purpose.
